php in templates?

How exactly do I include php in the wrapper template? I've seen the {include file.txt} tag but have been unsuccessful at getting it to call a php file for some reason.

{include "file.txt"} should work fine for any file. try using the full url if it doesn't work.

Thanks jeremy... is it safe to assume it needs to be {include "file.php"} for a php file? Seems obvious to me but thought I'd ask anyway.
