if someone can tell me how to stop spam, i'll do it. i enabled the captcha and i applied a mod that is supposed to cut down on spammers. i don't know what else to do.

BBcode links posted to the board could be turned into rel="nofollow" links that would p!ss off most spammers (and some members :) )
The link they post would then be of little value and won't increase there ranking in Google, but still people could click on it. But they are just scripts that are sending fake link-filled posts to boards and they won't know if their links are turned into google useless links, so they continue.

Another defence could be approving new members first (but is boring extra work).

Identifying spammers is another method to stop them, (until they change their methods). One way is to look if they try to post a link in the [Occupation] or [Interests] field. For an example check out this spammers profile: http://www.aardvarktopsitesphp.com/foru ... ile&u=3451

good luck

spammers wouldn't even notie the rel="nofollow", and they would still post just to get people to click.

if they can break the captcha, email validation shouldn't pose a challenge.
