Do you have enough previews - with regards to my skin - to determine whether or not it is your choice?

First Idea, still in the draft phase, if you like the direction I'll continue working on it. If not, let me know and I'll try something else. :)

Dislikes appreciated.

yes omar, i said i did before and you kept making them.

1shot: beautiful. i like the logo and the color choice. the menu looks cool too.

i'm really not looking forward to making my decision. there have been a few really nice entries so far, it's going to be tough.

Alright, so i have a draft version coded into version 5. The code still needs some optimization and some love, especially in the tables... One complication is I need to hide the login box when the user is logged in... but here is the preview @ 70%

cool. i can add code to change the login box, don't worry about that.

just an idea.. but maybe it would look good if you got rid of "featured member" and moved the menu/login box up next to the logo. i dunno though.

I wasn't sure if you wanted the skin coded immediately, or after you choose the one you like best. Do you got any ideas on who is at your "top" list right now, just so we can see where we all stand at -- or, are you just going to reveal it on Thursday? It's just hard to tell who's skin is better -- in your eyes.

honestly, right now i'm thinking 1shot's is the best with omar's a close second. that probably won't change unless 1shot withdraws from the contest or there is a new entry.

omar, if you make your skin, i'll still link to your website. it just won't be the default skin.

i set the thursday deadline because tomorrow i'm going to be out of town and i won't be back until thursday.

1shot: i got bored so i was messing around with your skin a little and did this: http://www.aardvarkind.com/test.html

i dunno if u think it's better than what u had, or if u're doing something differently now. but what do u think? i think it's good to have the search box on all pages.

also one thing i think should be done is to make it fluid, so you can resize the window and make it wider.

It looks alright, the more i look at your solution the more i like it. I was playing with the header a little as well. Came up with 2 ideas for the search box, both are added to the design although obviously only 1 is needed.

I wasnt sure if the header was too cluttered with the search box added so i tried the topbar idea.

If this design wins, both fluid and fixed formats will be provided.

i think the header is too cluttered with everything in it.

no need for both fluid and fixed is there?

American web design and web design taste really are much like american car design in the 50's and 60's.

I mean, it's so funny with all these small "car light" imitations in the corners of tables and headers... Haha. In my humble opinion, I think it is totally disgusting.

I wonder if you think, that the more a web site looks like some evil machine with baby colours (!), the better.

Thoughts on the table design: Here, it also looks like you think that the tables should look like some sheet metal construction.

I like Omars design much more because it is neutral yet tight looking. That way, I think the content is on a more like visual available for the viewer, as to speak.

So far I vote for you, Omar!

To be honest I have never wanted a fluid design topsite myself, and all the clients I have built topsites for have also wanted fixed width.

I suppose it's due to the small amount of content displayed in the topsite, I guess from my limited experience topsites should be fixed width...

Most quality skins for forums etc give the user the choice of fixed or fluid, this IMO is a good idea.

Still looking for the sheet metal nobody. 1shots design is a step into the future which is where aardvark is headed. Omars design seems like it is a step backwards. (no offence intended Omar) Plain and boring might aswell be for version 1.0b. If there was such a thing. If that is what you are looking for in a topsite design give me 5 minutes and I'll copy and paste. I just installed Aardvard 5.0 and think it's come along way since the first time I installed it. I agree that the colors would not be appealing to all but the design is sweet. Maybe 1shot could offer up different colors to choose from. As for fluid or not that probably should be an option but still with little modification 1shots could be fluid.

I also think search goes nice in the header and featured should be below.

Nice job 1shot and sorry Omar.
