If you don't want to install it, you can check out the test list. Feel free to join and play around.

Please, please, please post at the development forum and tell us if it worked or not. If it didn't, what is broken? If it did, just post and say that. Give us feedback on the new features. Anything. Just let us know what's going on.

How would one go about updating a highly modded version? Do all the modifications need to be re-applied to an uploaded copy of 5.0?

yes, all mods would need to be reapplied. but, they probably wouldn't work without being redone.

the one exception would by my rank caching mod, which has been incorporated into 5.0.

Damn. I don't suppose it's possible to just edit in the ID-to-Username code, eh?

i'm not sure i understand your question.

the upgrade script uses the id number of existing members as the username.

Hmm. Well.. let's see. What I meant was.. since the new version has usernames instead of ID numbers, was it possible to take that bit and add it to an old version. If not, cool. I was just curious. :?

it would probably be easier to port the mod to the new version than backport usernames to the old version. but, anything is possible.

D'oh! Okey doke, thanks. :) I figured I could try before asking, but that would be really dim as I'd probably break my site in the process. lol

you'd need a mod to do that.

when do you expect the definitive v5? Just so I know if it's better to wait if we have lots of mods to do!
Thanks again for the best topsites script!

I would like to have it out before the end of the month. If testing goes well, I'll probably be able to pull that off.

I'll be releasing another beta this week that includes the upgrader (4.1.0 or higher to 5.0), bug fixes, and many improvements to the admin.

I just released another beta. This one includes the upgrader, admin enhancements, and several bug fixes.

If you are using the old beta, just delete it and install this freshly because there are a couple database changes. But, if you are using 4.1.0 through 4.2.2, you can upgrade. Proof that it works is in the demo list, which I just upgraded.
