5.0 RC1 Released

Postby Jeremy » 2005-09-14 01:07 pm

Download it now!

This release is feature-complete and has no known bugs, so feel free to try it out. It supports upgrading from any version of Aardvark Topsites PHP going back to 4.1.0.

The main differences from the beta:
- New skin
- Admin usability
- Bug fixes

So here's what you can do to help:
- Test it and find any remaining bugs
- Tranaslate it: the language file will not change between now and the final
- Skin it: the skins system will not change between now and the final

So please, help me out and do some of the above things. Then post in the development forum and let me know how it works.

Awesome News Jeremy! I have a nifty mod rewrite for version 5, and I'll have a couple skins to offer within a few days.

rc1 = release candidate 1. if there are no bugs found in it, it will become the final version. but i've already fixed a couple minor ones, so there may be an rc2 after it.

Well, the clicks out IE bug certainly needs a couple of eyes before releasing the next RC... :)

Hey Jeremy can I ask, do you think RC2 will be the final release? and when exactly can we expect RC2? Thanks.

rc2 is just bugfixes. up/down arrows, stat buttons, and hits out are now working. also there is a german translation that has been submitted. if no bugs are found, it will be the final release.

i would guess... thursday for the release unless something else comes up.

Is the skinning process the same? I mean, can an older skin version be updated (easily)? or are we talking about a whole new species here? :D
