4.2.0 Coming Soon

Postby Jeremy » 2004-03-14 01:30 pm

Version 4.2.0 should be done in a couple weeks. There will probably be a public beta version sooner. Here is a tentative list of features:

- Emailing all members from the admin
- A weekly ranking option along with daily and monthly
- PHP-like includes in the templates: <#include="http://url.com/file.whatever">
- Somewhat faster button.php, especially for people that have many buttons
- A redesigned admin to allow editing, deleting, and emailing members from one screen.
- More consistent error messages
- More flexible buttons: display hits, pageviews, ratings, and any other stat along with the rank
- Template management
- Different templates for different categories

The problem is that all the new template features will be useless unless there is more than one template for people to choose from. So if you're a designer, please try to create a template for the script. If it's good, I'll include it with the script. You can include a link to your site on it, so you'll get thousands of links back to your site. That's instant exposure and a boost to your Google ranking. If you run a webdesign company, you get the added bonus of getting your name out to thousands of webmasters; it's like targeted advertising, but for free.

hey jeremy i was looking in web.archive.org and i founded some old cool topsite scripts. they have some cool featurs..

Ranking Methodes:
- #1 = 100% the rest is calculated in % from the #1 ( <a href='http://www.supertop100.com/dball/' target='_blank'>http://www.supertop100.com/dball/</a> )
- Rank of today, and the rank of yesterday ( <a href='http://web.archive.org/web/20000620104246/http://dragonballtop50.com/' target='_blank'>http://web.archive.org/web/20000620104246/...nballtop50.com/</a> and <a href='http://web.archive.org/web/20010925181311/http://dragonballtop50.com/' target='_blank'>http://web.archive.org/web/20010925181311/...nballtop50.com/</a> )

Extra Featurs:
- Country.. (sort by country)

I hope you can still take this to the new version.. and i can help you design a new template :)

i've seen that site before, with the ranking by percentages, but i always thought that was a stupid way to do it. you're the first person who's asked for that feature. would you really use it? it wouldn't be very hard to implement as a mod, i could do it for you, but i don't think it's worth putting in the main script.

for flags, you could use the categories. each category is a country.

yesterday's rank can already be done, it's <#old_rank> in table.html and table_top.html.

if you want to make a template, just send it to me and if it's good i'll use it. that would be great.

and what about this:

- highest rank ever in the list

is that an option? and about the country thing i want to use the categories AND a country. so 2 categories.. it that possible for a newer version?

it would be great is you make a MOD for the rank in % :D

i don't think there's much demand for highest rank on the list, so i doubt that will be a feature. multiple categories will probably be a feature sometime, but probably not this version.

for the % thing, find this line in display.php:
Code: Select all
$result = $db->SelectLimit("SELECT id, url, title, description, category, urlbanner, total_ratings, num_ratings, unq_pv_today, (unq_pv_today + unq_pv_1 + unq_pv_2 + unq_pv_3) / 4, tot_pv_today, (tot_pv_today + tot_pv_1 + tot_pv_2 + tot_pv_3) / 4, unq_in_today, (unq_in_today + unq_in_1 + unq_in_2 + unq_in_3) / 4, tot_in_today, (tot_in_today + tot_in_1 + tot_in_2 + tot_in_3) / 4, unq_out_today, (unq_out_today + unq_out_1 + unq_out_2 + unq_out_3) / 4, tot_out_today, (tot_out_today + tot_out_1 + tot_out_2 + tot_out_3) / 4, old_rank
                            FROM ".$CONFIG['sql_prefix']."_members, ".$CONFIG['sql_prefix']."_stats
                            WHERE id = id2 $category_sql AND active = 1
                            ORDER BY (".$rankingmethod."_today + ".$rankingmethod."_1 + ".$rankingmethod."_2 + ".$rankingmethod."_3) / 4 DESC
                            ", $CONFIG['numlist'], $start);

before it, put this:
Code: Select all
$result = $db->SelectLimit("SELECT (".$rankingmethod."_today + ".$rankingmethod."_1 + ".$rankingmethod."_2 + ".$rankingmethod."_3) / 4
                            FROM ".$CONFIG['sql_prefix']."_members, ".$CONFIG['sql_prefix']."_stats
                            WHERE id = id2 $category_sql AND active = 1
                            ORDER BY (".$rankingmethod."_today + ".$rankingmethod."_1 + ".$rankingmethod."_2 + ".$rankingmethod."_3) / 4 DESC
                            ", 1, 0);
list($max_stat) = $db->FetchArray($result);

then find this:
Code: Select all
  $TMPL['avg'] = $TMPL[$rankingmethod . "_avg"];

afte that, put this:
Code: Select all
  $TMPL['percentage'] = round($TMPL['avg'] / $max_stat * 100, 2);

then you should be able to use <#percentage> in table.html and table_top.html. i haven't tried this out yet. if it works, please post here and then i'll make this a topic in the support forum so people can use it.

i will probably add automated backup.

the new templates are 99% the same, so you can just make a template for 4.1.0.

Would it be possible for you to also make a flat file version too? I use version 4.1.1. and I love it. But I also want to have a topsite list for one of my subsites but I don't want to use too much MySQL.
