Jeremy if we upgrade is it safe to remove our .htaccess file that blocks the sites? I mean like after we have banned them in the admin cp.

.htaccess banning is more efficient. i would leave it there until those users have taken down the button.

Then should I be adding new banned members to the .htaccess file once I upgrade?

depends why you are banning them. if they are hitting you with tons of button.php requests, then htaccess is better. besides that, it doesn't matter much

Most of the spammers now days don't even bother adding the button code. I'm usually banning them just to prevent them from rejoining (though they can always find another way). I really don't think they'd keep purchasing domains though to get pass the url bans.

Hello,

I run a topsite using version 5.0.1

I use the Softly skin by Celestial Star which I have modded slightly

the topsite is here http://www.scottishwebcamslive.com/links/

My question is if I upgrade to the new 5.2 because I need the new captcha system really bad will this ruin my Skin/template ?

or will the skin just sit nicely where it is on top of the upgraded software ?

best regards
Ian

Hi Jeremy,

the upgrade works fine for me! Thanks! :D

I have one problem:

The user gets the email and i have added this in join_email.html:

Code: Select all
Username: {$username}
Passwort: {$password}
Titel: {$title}
Kategorie: {$category}
Homepage-URL: {$url}
Button-URL: {$banner_url}
Beschreibung: {$description}

But the fields are emty. Users just can see the username but nothing else :?
In the admin-email all field are shown.
