button.php doesn't always work!

Postby Kuken » 2011-08-19 01:08 pm

I have problems with button.php, on some blogs regged in my toplist the img shows up as a broken image (red X).
I dont know how to fix this. All images should work. It seems like button.php wont redirect to the image sometime.
How do I fix this?

Delete button.php and button-settings.php, and uploud a new oners if you have updated them. Check settings on admin, make sure everything right with button images, check black list, maybe you havo blocked those urls.

You can check where it's trying to redirect to by going to the button.php?whatever URL in your browser and seeing what URL it redirects to. That should help diagnose the problem.

It takes me to a blank page. :/
But it's just for some sites, other image-URLs work just fine.

I dont know what I should do about it.

The blank page is probably a suppressed error that will show up in your server error logs and be more informative.

Help!!! It's not working on any site now!

From the error-log, it looks like this:
Code: Select all
[Sun Aug 26 06:56:15 2012] [error] [client 81.124.191.13] File does not exist: /home/user1/domains/randomblogtoplist.com/public_html/button.phphttp:, referer: http://randomreferer.blog.com/

What's up with "button.phphttp"? Should it look that way?

I did try to edit the button.php code to:

Code: Select all
//header("Location: {$location}");

echo $location;

It showed the correct URL to the real image and the image is working fine! What should I do? I've already tried to replace button.php and the button-settings file with new ones but it doesnt work!

I cant believe it, why is this not working!

I did edit button.php again so it looked like this:

Code: Select all
echo "before";
header("Location: {$location}");
echo "after";

When I visit: http://www.bloglllll.com/button.php?u=user
The only thing I see is "beforeafter". WHY DOESN'T IT REDIRECT ME? The variable $location does have a URL! Everything seem to be correct!

I believe this error occurs because the PHP-function "header" doesn't work because the scripts spits out 2 blank lines before that "command" and "header" doesn't work if there have been anything printed on the page before that command according to some programmer.

How can I find out why these 2 blank lines occur? I dont see anything in button.php that would cause this.

The buttons seems to work a a very few sites which makes it even more weird. :(

unfortunately you have not provided any way for anyone to actually troubleshoot the problem. Its impossible to help you.

replace button.php with fresh version to avoid any of your modifications, you should not be outputting anything before the header() function. At the very least, get rid of those echo's in button.php.

Thanks for your reply! I have tried with replacing button.php with a fresh copy direct from the zip-file but no luck there. :(

without being able to actually see the problem first hand its impossible to help you any further. All I know is its something unique to your environment causing the problem.

On one toplist I solved it by deleting all the unnecessary linebreaks in settings_sql.php
