Major Help Needed

I have 2 top sites. Both just all of a sudden stopped working.

The vote buttons show up on everyones site broken, when in fact the images are still in the same place they have been.

The list just dropped several sites off. They were there then gone.

It does NOT count stats.

Can anyone help me figure this out?

sounds like it might be a problem with your web host, try asking them.

How would my web host have anything to do with the script working?

because button.php can be server intensive and some hosts (usually ones with thousands of sites per server like your host) disable all instances of button.php so your buttons wont work and most of your stats wont track.

Why do my buttons show up as broken images?

There are two possibilities here.

1. Your settings are somehow incorrect

If you have modified the button settings in the admin, you may have broken something. To try and diagnose the problem, right click on the broken image and go to "View Image" to see what URL the button is redirecting to.


2. Your host is mean

Some hosts (actually, just Hostgator, but there may be others) have decided to ban topsites lists. There is nothing you can do about it other than switching to a different host.

OK so the, what is the issue with it not keeping stats?

I will call a buddy of mine at host gator and get the button issue fixed.

You said button.php can be intensive, however we created our own button to use. We are not using the one that shows position.

button.php is used to show all buttons no matter what setting you use. If you look at your link code you'll see your using button.php.

button.php also tracks most of the stats.

OHHHh! I wrote Host Gator about what their issue is and they said..

"They are not allowed because they cause cpu and ram issues with the servers"

So it looks like I will be looking for a new host. They have cpanel hosting and I think if I move to another cpanel host the new host can transfer the files over right?
