Skinning Question

Postby clouddreamer » 2005-04-09 08:13 am

Wow, havent been on Aardvark Topsites for ages now.

Anyway to my question.

I have been trying to modify my topsites using what Koby said on the Skins section, but when I modify I find that I take away the google ad even though the code for it is still in tact.

Can someone help or even make a layout for me?

sorry for the delay, my account wasnt letting me in.

anyway,i downloaded a skin from Beccary and changed the wrapper, table, table top and uploaded the default.css to my own server. i adapted the original default codes like the poweredby and googlead lot into where they should be but the google ad did not want to work but the powered by itopsites did.

when i went back to default and tried again it now dosent even resemble what i downloaded unlike the first attempt.

You aren't linking to your style sheet properly.

change:

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" href="www.ffskies.com/topsites/default.css">

to:

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" href="http://www.ffskies.com/topsites/default.css">

just stick <body> on the line after </head>. it should have been there anyways, a proper html document must have a body tag.

Check all your HTML here: http://validator.w3.org/ It is good to have your site as close to valid HTML/XHTML, CSS etc as posible, with the exception of IE, you will have a browser friendly webpage
