Postby toplist » 2007-07-08 05:56 am

Dear all,

I don't know if this features is availble on the new version because I can't upgrade to it ... I have made too many change to the 5.1.2 ... :D

Well, one of the last change is the "Multi Button Managing".

Every registered user can choice from his control panel the best Button for his layout site !!

Is simple to do it ... : Add a field on all record of sites table, create a directory tree with all the type of button and then manage it in the button.php and in the edit.php and so on ... (sorry for this few info ... but it's for who know well Aardvark Topsites code)

Jeremy ... what do you think to include this features on the New version like this ?

Good work to all.

That would be a GREAT option to add for next version - whenever it comes out! :D

I don't like seeing an option in ANY other top site script that ATS doesn't have. And this seems to be the ONLY really significant one left I can think of at the moment.

Offering buttons with a different color would seem to me to be fairly simple. Being able to offer buttons in different sizes, however, would be more complex - at least with Google-friendly Links option turned on.

For those of us with a list (or 2) that is now using a "button" in a size other than 88x31 (which has become a standard), the latter option would be VERY helpful!

Please strongly consider this option, whenever you do get around to it. I'm sure that would inspire lots of people to upgrade.

Thanks!

Hi, thanks very much for your interesting to my own mod.

I think that is not so complex to manage different colours and/or different button size. It's only few mod to appropriate db table and script code. And all is possible without change client code !!

Can I try to woking on this mod next weeks ... but before some questions about this mods:

How many type of different button size do you want to manage ???
Do you want that any user can choice his preferred or you want to force it to All ?? or to the first Top xx ??

How you can see, first of all must be clear what are the goals .... then is possible do develop code.

Bye. 8)

Sorry for my delay in replying...

3 different sizes (small, medium and large) would seem to me to be enough. In my own case, besides the standard 88x31, I also have one at 400x40 (large) and another at 90x60 (medium). A full banner (468x60) is just TOO big and a smaller banner (400x40) is about as big as a top site list should ever use in my opinion.

I think there should be a default set with an optional choice for the other 2. All 3 may be a bit too much, but I have seen other Topsite list software send you 3 different code choices, something ATS doesn't offer (yet). Again, this is about the ONLY thing ATS does not have that another one does. It's a nice feature!

Sending all 3 codes would not be a bad thing. But, in general, using a primary default button (with an option for 2 more) might work the best.

I assume you'd have no problem if Jeremy uses any code you create to make this into an official new feature later, right?

There are very few "official" mods now and that is probably a good thing. In my opinion, mod creators should ALWAYS be happy to let Jeremy play with and/or modify their code if it helps a feature go Official!

Thanks!

I'm very glad if Jeremy include my code to the next release... but how Jeremy know well, often available time is the problem to make averything !!

So, I can try to find time on the next weeks...

For now I've spend a little time only to design and add five new buttons of different size:

Now, another idea, is to show in the admin area how many site are using a button for all types.

This can be usefull to understand wich are the best rated... :D

What do you think about ??

Bye.
