rss parser

Discission about the future of Aardvark Topsites PHP.

rss parser

Postby Xerion » 2007-07-16 06:09 am

I'm looking into adding a function where new sites can submit an rss feed when they register (i got a blog list). This way I can have like "the last 30 blog entries".

Might be quite easy to implement, I dunno, I'm a php n00b.

you'd need another field like url in all of the forms and in the database. then you'd need a script to run every X minutes (you can do this with cron) to read all of those feeds and see if there are updates. there are several rss parsers in php already written, you could use one of those.

Any chance this could be implemented into a future version? Displaying rss always puts something new on the site and a reason for visitors to return!

Hell, I am willing to pay a couple of hundred bucks for a decent rss managment script.

I have a blog topsite and I would like to for example display the last 5 posts for a blog when you enter their stats section.

Also I would like a section with like 10-20 latest inputs taken from ALL the blogs registered on my site.

it's a good idea, but i really don't have the time to do it right now. if someone else did and contributed the code, that would be great.
